DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING Dove Christian Counselling offers a programme of discipleship training for those interested in becoming counsellors. A pre-requisite to participation in the training programme is 'sitting-in' with us for a period of three months. The information on both programmes are detailed below:- ***The programmes listed below are full and will not recommence till Autumn 2010*** SITTING-IN PROGRAMME We offer a programme of sitting-in to people interested in becoming counsellors. The programme is a pre-requisite to attendance on our training programme and is primarily (though not exclusively) for those interested in counselling with Dove. The cost of the programme is £50 and it runs for a three month period. The participant will 'sit-in' with an experienced counsellor on at least one appointment per week (this can vary due to cancellations etc). The purpose of the programme is:- - To familiarise prospective trainee counsellors with the process of counselling within Dove - To enable, after a period of time, both prospective trainee and Dove to make an assessment as to whether counsellor training would be suitable. - To give a prospective trainee a 'taster' of the counselling process. - To offer the opportunity to 'sit-in' as a silent observer with no responsibility for the actual process or outcome of the counselling session. THE DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME We offer a one year Discipleship Training Programme which is complimentary to theoretical counselling training gained elsewhere. This programme is a pre-requisite for working within Dove Christian Counselling. The cost of the programme is £550 and the main components are: - Practical counselling experience - Supervision - Personal development - Journal keeping - Recommended reading - Theoretical Training Course tailored to the biblical model used by Dove Applicants are expected to commit to up to 3hrs per week for participating in counselling sessions, a further 45mins (approx) for journal keeping and one day per month for theoretical training, supervision, personal development and study/reflection. - To provide a discipleship training programme for prospective counsellors. We, at Dove believe that discipleship training is a necessary part of becoming an effective counsellor. The focus is on skills and development of areas not covered by formal theoretical training alone - To develop counselling skills within a clinical setting and have the opportunity to explore various issues in a supported environment. - To progress through the stages from silent observer to counsellor. - To grow in faith and be challenged in thinking and attitudes. |
